EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

master classes, workshops, feedback, scholarship

THE BELL HOUSE is continually seeking new spaces for education and art to interact. What that means is that we are searching for opportunities to bring art to education and infuse education with art. We do that through hosting dance festivals, master classes, workshops and fostering scholarship through feedback and academic pursuit with an emphasis on bringing awareness and accessibility to what the artist doing. Being ever mindful that education is the key that unlocks the door for today’s and tomorrow’s artists.

Some of the practical ways that THE BELL HOUSE achieves these objectives are to host workshops & master classes, subsidize student performance tickets, & provide a feedback environment for resident artists.

Community Class w/ Whitney Dufrene
Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020
2-4 p.m.
FlyLoft, Tulsa Arts District

"WHITNEY DUFRENE, from Louisiana, is a performer, teacher, choreographer and vocalist based in Queens. She graduated with a BFA in dance from Belhaven University. Whitney was a company member of Ad Deum, and served as company director for Dance du Coeur and director of dance for Creative Dreams Outreach Center. She has choreographed work for Ad Deum, Dance du Coeur, Belhaven, and Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre, among others. She also danced in Jerusalem with the TDC as a part of the Feast of Tabernacles in 2015. Most recently, she served on faculty at Hunter College. She is a member of Awakening Movement, a faith-based dance organization. Her deepest passion and joy is working to see the arts bring breakthrough, justice, hope, healing and freedom in individuals and communities. Whitney joined Doug Varone and Dancers in 2016."
I really loved having Whitney come last week! It was really good to learn a different style of modern from some one who is currently dancing for a company. Whitney was a valuable guest artist because she was a dance major at school not too long ago so she understands what we are doing everyday and she was able encourage us because she had done it. I benefited greatly from her coming and teaching technique and the workshops.
Thank you so much, Courtney Wright
